So You're At Computer Club Hacking Hours…

What next?

This handout is online at http://cmucc.org/hackfest/handout.html

  1. Join us on IRC.
    • We're in ##cclub on irc.freenode.net.
    • You can use the webchat at http://cmucc.org/irc or an appropriate client for your operating system.
    • You can ask whatever questions you like on IRC!

Please feel free to ask in the main channel, instead of sending private messages to individuals; we default to open.

  2. Figure out something to do.
    • You can work on your own project
    • You can bicker with other members about this week's discussion topic.
    • You could pick one of the many Computer Club projects from this big, unorganized list: http://cmucc.org/hackfest/projects.html.
    • And, of course, all of this is much easier when your laptop has the world's best operating system, GNU/Linux. Now's a good time to install!

Make sure to announce your intent on IRC to see if anyone is working on the same project!

  3. Get a Computer Club account.
    • Come to B6 and ask for one.
    • We have a wiki at http://wiki.club.cc.cmu.edu
    • We have shell servers at clam.club (Debian 8), whelk.club, oyster.club (both Debian 7)
